1. Enrolling iPads in Apple School Manager
If they were purchased through the Help Desk, send list of serial numbers to Faye or Allan so the devices can be enrolled in Apple School Manager
Wait for confirmation back before powering on or wiping the device(s).
If the were not purchased through the Help Desk, contact Faye or Allan to determine the next steps
2. Creating a Shared Tablet Cart
Click the My School tab at the bottom of the window
Click “Shared Tablet Carts” In the Hierarchy section of the sidebar on the left of the page
Click “Create New Cart” In the panel that appears next to the sidebar
Now you can name and set up your cart
Set the Type as “Shared Cart”
Enable “Get Location”
Select the Location or Locations you want to put in devices from
or
Select the Devices you want in the cart
Click Save
3. Putting Devices into Shared Tablet Carts
Click the My School tab at the bottom of the window
Click “Shared Tablet Carts” In the Hierarchy section of the sidebar on the left of the page
Navigate to the cart In the panel that appears next to the sidebar
Once you have found the cart, there are three things you can click on to show different information about the cart.
You can click on the name, or the blank space of the cart to bring up a basic overview and the Access QR Code
You can click “View Device List”
You can click “View profiles assigned”
To add an iPad to your cart click on the name or the blank space of the cart.
On the iPad you want to enrol, open the Mosyle Manager App
Click yes or accept for the prompts that come up
Tap the QR Code icon and point the iPad camera at the QR code in the Mosyle Manager web browser window
4. Installing Apps
Click the Management tab at the bottom of the window
Click “Install App” in the Management Profiles section of the sidebar on the left of the page
Apps are installed using “Profiles”
A new app profile is made in two steps:
Step One -
Click the + Add new profile button at the top of middle section of the window
Put in a name in the part of the screen that appears on the right part of the window
Click Select the source and choose your VPP account
For Assignment Method leave it set to “Device based - Assign licenses to device serial number and not to the Apple ID connected to the device.”
For Apps that have been previously installed on devices, select how to use VPP licenses:
Leave it set to “Assign a VPP license for apps listed below even if they already exist on the device through manual installation. All apps will be Managed and can be removed by the MDM without user interaction.”
Skip + ADD APPLICATION until Step Two
Click “Show advanced options”
Change “Do not uninstall the apps removed from the list or when a recipient is removed. VPP license will not be revoked.” to:
“Uninstall apps removed from the list or when a recipient is removed. VPP license will be revoked.”
Leave the other advanced settings unchanged.
For Profile Assignment choose “Select specific users or devices”
For Select Location(s), click the “Select locations” button
Click “Deselect All”
Choose your location.
Check “Allow Location Leaders to view this profile”
For Select the users and devices
Check Assign to Shared Devices and choose “By group(s): all current and future devices”
then click the “Select” button and choose the group of iPads you want to install the App(s) on
Click the “Save” button at the bottom of the Install Apps section (on the far right) of the window
Step Two -
Click on the App Profile you created (note, clicking on “View details” displays a different screen)
Click “ADD APPLICATION”
Select the apps you wish to install from the pop out that comes up
Click the green check mark at the top right of the pop out to save your changes and close the pop out
Scroll to the bottom of the Install Apps pane and click the “Save” button.
5. Home Screen Layout
Click the Management tab at the bottom of the window
Click “Home Layout” in the Management Profiles section of the sidebar on the left of the page
A new layout is made in two steps:
Step One -
Click the + Add new profile button at the top of middle section of the window
Put in a name in the part of the screen that appears on the right part of the window
Leave
Organize all of the users apps based on App Store categories.
and
Create an Allowed Apps profile based on this Home Layout.

Set Application Time to Fulltime (24x7)
For Profile Assignment choose “Select specific users or devices”
For Select Location(s)
Click the “Select Locations” button to set the location to your site
Check “Allow Location Leaders to view this profile”
For Select the users and devices
Check “Assign to Shared Devices
On the pulldown menu choose “By group(s): all current and future devices”
Then click the “Select” button
In pop out that appears find your Group and click the check box
To close this pop out click the green checkmark at the top right corner of the pop out
Before the second step save your layout by clicking the Save button at the bottom of the right hand column in the window
Step Two -
Click on your new Home Layout
Click the iPad image In the Home Layout section of the window (the right most column)
This opens the Home Layout Editor which allows you to put apps in the dock and more
6. Creating Custom Wallpaper for iOS for Your Entire School
Click the Management tab at the bottom of the window
Click “Wallpaper” in the Management Profiles section of the sidebar on the left of the page
Click the + Add new profile button at the top of middle section of the window
Put in a name in the part of the screen that appears on the right part of the window
For “Wallpaper Type” select the pulldown and choose “Wallpaper ID”
You can set the background and text colours by clicking the text box, a colour picker will pop out allowing you to fine tune what colours you want
For the text, there are options below the text field for what is available for wallpapers
We put:
%DeviceName%
%SchoolName%
%OSVersion%
Leave apply everyday unchecked
For “Profile Assignment”
Choose “Select specific users or devices”
Click the “Select locations” button
Select your location from the window that pops up and click the green checkmark at the top right to confirm your action
Check “Allow Location Leaders to view this profile”
Check “Assign to Student’s devices” and choose “All current and future students”
Check “Assign to Teacher’s, Staff and Admin’s devices” and choose “All current and future teachers, staffs and admins”
Check “Assign to Shared Devices” and choose “All current and future shared devices”
Click Save at the bottom of the window
